Wow Marjorie, it's like a work of art! I love the way you've done her hair, her face, her tail ... well, everything! I can't wait to see the whole cake Isn't it funny how we can have so many cakes to show all at once and then nothing for ages.

Aw, that makes all me nostalgic for books I had when I was little where Cinderella looked exactly like that - she's gorgeous, well done you.

Mermaid tail is dusted with a mix of lunar blue, emerald and sunflower dusts with some saphire and mother of pearl lustre, painted over with glaze. Unfortunately this was the only photo which showed the true colour whether it was the reflections or what! The paste was my usual mix of sugarpaste (250g) and gum trag (5ml). I will post the rest of the cake soon. The hairdresser who ordered it was totally gobsmacked when he realised the whole thing was made of sugar - and he loved the hair.

Only problem is transporting her in the morning without that waving arm falling off again! Lots of foam and bubble wrap I think!
And remembered the tip about dusting the paste before cutting the letters - much easier and quicker. Thanks to whoever it was.

Hello ladies, so gorgeous cakes, just spent the last five minutes catching up with posts, everyone has been so busy.......... emma i have to say those last 3 cakes are fab, so are all the others some lovely designs, and you are all getting brill with the modelling, i am not even going try anything like that. i am trying to make castle now i know a couple of you are experts at this, i have a few different ideas about the turrets in various books, and would value you opinions as to what is best, make them from modeling paste, with kitchen roll formers, gelatin icing, or one book says, pastillage, then modelling paste over that............. need to start today, so any help please.

I do all mine with kitchen rolls and pastillage then I fill the hollow turrets with sweets and then the top are icecream cones covered in sugarpaste..lots of pics on the website...
The other one I do is the first castle cake you see a 4 tier one they are just sugarpaste modelled and stuck to the side..
