I love the beach cake - she looks like Betty Boop - is that the idea? Did you use a mold for the sea-shells round the edge? I'm making a wedding cake with a seashore theme soon (with a lighthouse perched on top) and was thinking of making some shells etc. for the cake. I've just made a rash purchase! I've bought a Wilton ribbon cutter for cutting and embossing ribbon. I'm stupidly excited about it. It was £18 inc p+p Let's hope it's worth it!

Hi Emma,
Yes, it was Betty Boop and I used a chocolate mould for the shells.
Can't wait to see your wedding cake. Is it for a playing customer or friends/family?

Yes, it's done in the same way. My husband thought of the ladder!
He had a little party today with all the family. He'd been begging me all morning to see the cake. When he turned 3, he didn't want anyone to cut up his cake but this time, he was the one wanting to cut it up to have a taste!

It's lovely when it comes to their birthdays because you can do exactly what you want and really go all out. I'm sick of cake because I usually end up eating a bit of the off cuts from every cake I make so I didn't want to make anything too big. We also only had my family round (the in-laws are all are in SA) so there's no need for something big as we'll only be left with most of it and it's really tempting when there's nothing else to eat!
Holly's cake sounds really nice. I think I sent you a photo before of one I'd found and they'd done that too, stacking the cakes and then carving a pointed rock shape.

My three latest. These are all dummies I made for a show I did yesterday. I think it went well, certainly I had several serious enquiries about wedding cakes. The show was only a little village show, not specific to cakes or even crafts - but I thought it was a good opportunity to have a 'practice,' before thinking about doing a wedding show or something. I have to be honest, I got totally fed up with people asking the same blimin' questions: "Is that a cake?" "How much are your cakes?" "Is it really a cake?" "How long does it take you to do?" "Seriously, it's a cake?!" etc. etc. I'm dying for a bride to want the swirly cake, I adore it, although it was a killer to ice each tier as they are two cakes per tier.
