This is my copy of Colette Peter's doctor's bag cake. It's to celebrate the birthdays of a nurse, a GP and a 'bottom' surgeon - if you know that the device near the stethoscope is then you have my sympathies!!

A 'cop anbd robber' cake for someone who was celebrating the end of the their curfew! A very odd cake request and my first ever attempt at figure modelling - please be very critical!!

Emma are there suppose to be two cakes cos only the cops and robbers one showing..
I must admit I think its great...your first attempt at figure modelling is fab I find with modelling you can go either more realistic or more fun ... I prefer more fun and thats wot you have done..really like it..One thing I will say is that the hands are rather big ie the fingers....but they are always difficult to do..thats why I am thinking of getting those peope moulds to help with the proprtions and then adapt for more fun people or more realistic ones..
Love the cake though..well done

Rach, go back to the first page, the first cake is on there.
Emma, amazing again! Both are brilliant. I love the cops and robbers one. You really are artistic. I think the figures are perfect and they make it fun.

I like the little pills, and the spoon is great too!
Emma, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you charge for the cops and robbers cake?

I charged £150 for the cops and robbers and £80 for the doctor's bag. Yes, the hands are too big - I found them really hard to do and would appreciate any tips at all! What modelling paste do you all use? I made my own out of royal icing and CMC but found it a bit grainy.

Thanks, it's nice to know what different people charge.
I think the big hands add to the fun of the characters!
I just use sugarpaste for my figures.

It depends ..most of the time either modelling or sugar dough as it holds better and sometimes just sugarpaste it depends what I am trying to do with the figure..but most I do use sugar dough.....its good to work with and firmer so holds the shape and dries hard but still soft enough to eat..

I might have to try some of that sugar dough Rach. Do you make your own or buy it?

I buy it from squires kitchen cos it comes in loads of strong colours aswell.....saves me colouring...but the bratz doll i did was just normal sugarpaste and I was surprised how well it went with that....the boots in the black could have done with being sugar dough though cos black is always very soft and I did use the mmp flesh for the body but the rest was just sugarpate except for the frilly skirt which was flowerpaste...
Now afer reading that back how can I say most of it was sugarpaste...lol...
