That cake is gorgeous - really truly fantastic! The colours and shapes are so clean and sharp. That must have taken forever - do please share how you did it!

Thanks!
I first printed out a picture of Thomas and cut out the main pieces. Then I lay the different parts on sugarpaste and cut around it. I then put the pieces together like a puzzle. The yellow, no 4 and Thomas are on a piece of card. The nice thing about doing it this way is that you can do it way in advance and then just place the card on the top of the cake. The red sausage around the yellow is just to hide the edges of the card. It's the first cake I've done like this and should save a lot of time and last minute panic. I started the first bit of Thomas a while ago and I'm so pleased I had because I was so exhausted last night that I couldn't have started it from scratch ready for today.
I notice one main thing that's missing ... so pleased you havent'!! (Or maybe you have but haven't said anything!) I should have done his other wheels but it was so late and I didn't feel like getting everything out again.

Yes. Especially nice for younger children who can't bear to see the characters on their cakes cut up.

Shiannie you've done a lovely job on your Thomas cake. You always have a lovely neat finish to your cakes.
Bet you'll be glad to have a rest!

Hi julie,
Thanks! I'm always so relieved when I've finished each one. I'm already looking at the next two I have to make. The one is a fishing one for an 18th birthday and I want to do something really nice. I was thinking of a fishing tackle box with tackle inside, a reel or something else, lying next to a chopping board with a fish on it. Lots of work but I'm looking forward to it.

Shianne..I was wondering how much you chraged for the bratz cake I have charged £40 but think really it should have been more than that cos the doll is quite detailed and takes quite abit of time.....wot do you think

I charged 38 but she ended up rounding it off and giving me 40 pounds. I think 40 is a fair price but that's just me. I'm always worried when giving people prices in case they think I'm too expensive. I've got a bit better in thinking 'well that is what I charge, take it or leave it.'. It's also probably easier for you to tell because I think you can possibly finish the brat in one go whereas I do it over a couple of nights so it seems like less work than it actually is.

Aah, so you're in the same boat. I find things sometimes seem easier and quicker when you work on them and then have a break therefore spreading it out so it doesn't seem like such a big task. I've seen a few of the shaped cakes on cake central, I can't wait to see it!
