This one was for an 80 year old gent who used to work on the buses. A bit plain but that's all they wanted. And the Bratz cake:

Hi Shianne Love all your new cakes, you have been busy. How did you do the pattern on the Welsh ladies shawl? The snail was a great idea. I think the Bratz cake is brill, how did you do the face have you drawn it on? Was the hair hard to do? Julie

Hi Rach & Julie
Thanks for your comments. The hair was must moulded by hand to the right size and shape and then I added the wisps on the top of that. And yes Rach, I did it piece by piece.
Julie, the pattern on the shawl was just painted on with coloured paste. The Brat's eyes were done with sugarpaste and then I outlined with black paste. Same for the eyebrows and eyelashes.
The 2 girls' reaction was so lovely when they saw it. It was for Jessica but her sister came with to pick up the cake.

yes it does! I did the hair first and then fitted the face in the middle after. But the face goes flat onto the plastic/bottom. There's no hair under the face.

You'll be fine! I was looking at your jojo's circus cake the other day and it looked really good. I used normal sugarpaste.

Not that long at all. I did have a break in between though (a whole day!) so maybe it seemed less than it really was.
Boy was I panicking this morning! A lady had ordered a Thomas cake for today but we didn't agree on a time. I was out when I got a message on my phone saying that she'd been round to pick up the cake and I wasn't there. I hadn't even covered the cake! I phoned her and we agreed that her friend would pick it up from school where both our son's go at 3.15. Anyway, she arrived at the house about 30 mins later! I explained that I wasn't quite finished because I had a meeting at another school. Thankfully she said she'd come back at 4.45. I'm nearly done. I'm lucky my daughter still sleeps during the day so I had an hour to get a lot of it done. Phew! I'll be so glad when the cake's gone. I've been so busy with the other two cakes, staying up till the early hours of the morning so I just hadn't had the time to finish this one. An early night tonight for sure!

Aw thanks Rach! I didn't like the bus cake. I did the writing before the cake and it could definitely have been a different colour. Thank goodness the Thomas is a flat one because I dread being asked to make a 3d one!
I'll post a photo now.
