yes, the hole can be repaired when she is 2 or 3, but the thought of open heart surgery is very scary, and the problem with her eye is really only cosmetic, she doesn't seem to have any problems with her sight (she can spot the slightest bit of anything on the floor which then goes in her mouth!), i just don't want her picked on at school because she sometimes looks a bit cross eyed and kids can be so cruel. Anyway, must be thankful that it isn't something potentially life threatening...had a meningitis scare this weekend with a nasty non blanching rash, so up at the hospital all day yesterday, but turned out to be nothing! I don't think i'm a born mother, a born panicker more like.

just looked back over the last few posts and it sounds more like a medical forum than a cake forum!

I know what you mean ;D
I have a friend whose little girl underwent heart surgery when she was only a few months old. She's such a chatty, friendly lady that if you'd like her telephone number, she'd be more than happy to talk to you. Sometimes it's nice to chat to someone who's going or been through what you will be.
Anyway, back to cakes again I suppose, lol!

I might take you up on that - closer to the time though or I'll start worrying and panicking about it now

Hi Shianne, how is your daughter now? IS the summer making it any better? A friend of mine had her son taken to france as he had really really bad eczema, and it did wonders, he is much better now. I think the medication is better in france. It was a specialist center i thin k.

I don't know how I missed these posts when browsing recently....you both have it pretty tough with the children and sounds like it will be a few months before things improve. Hang in there! I'm just tired due to mine waking up at night (son aged 2 and a half sometimes sleeps through now, daughter just turned one wakes 3 times a night, don't know why they are such bad sleepers), but we are fortunate that they are healthy. Going back to a different topic, that Power Ranger cake looks really stunning, Shianne. Did you airbrush the sugarpaste or something to get that effect?

Hi, sorry, I've only just seen this now! I look back every now and again but as I've stopped making cakes, I've got nothing to show. Hee, hee, how do some people have it so lucky with their children sleeping through the night from day 1 and we don't? Anyway, I dabbed the power ranger cake with a bit of colour mixed with alcohol and then dabbed it with a sponge all over.

well, um, not anymore! i'm so pleased Rach. I did my second to last one last week and only have one more. it's like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders. i actually feel a bit lost in the evenings now not having to think about what cake is coming up next and what i should already have been making. I just have so much more time to get my house sorted out and declutter. I'll be looking for a 'normal' job once my daughter goes to nursery 5 days a week but until then i'm going to enjoy being 'cake free' and carry on decluttering. i've also got the children's scrapbook albums which i've not had the time to do and so many other little things i can finally get around to doing.

Sorry I haven't been on line for a while either, but I'm now off-loading loads of cake stuff on ebay as I think I've also had enough of cakes. My new venture at college doing holistic therapies is really taking up so much of my time since I packed in work (hopefully to have some more time for myself!), that I'm busier than ever.
I'll keep popping in and out of the cakechat site to keep up with everyone, but in the meantime, Shianne - all the best with getting a 'normal' job in the future, and hope everything sorts itself out with the little one. Rach - thanks for all your support over the past year or so and good luck with the face painting.
Best wishes to everyone.
