Hi, can anyone help! I've made countless round and square wedding cakes and now I've been asked to make a hexagon wedding cake , I said Ok, but I'm not sure how to convert my recipe that I use for various round and square sizes into a hexagon (or any other shape for that matter!). They want a 12", 2 x 8" and 6". How do I work it out? Thanks Stephanie

if its a sponge cake I would just make up a big load of mixture and bung it in the tins.....really professional I know but hey it works for me,..if its fruit etc let me know I will check my books..
Really I should check anyway cos its not best to guessimate but I do do that with sponge ones

Rachel, it's a fruit cake - I did think I might just make it as though it were a 12" square and see what happens, I thought, so what's the worst that could happen, but I don't know if I'm that brave!
I think if it was sponge I might opt for your tried and trusted method but cos it's fruit I don't want to end up with a really small fruit cake, my lot can only eat so much fruit cake and custard, fruit cake and fruitcake before they object!

ok this is what my book says re hexagon tins......
6 " treat as 5" round 8 " treat as 7 " round 10 " treat as 9 " round 12 " treat as 11"round for whatever recipe you use
