we stayed in Reykjavic, they are very touristy orientated and have organised tours all over the place, so you get to see absolutely loads in a short time...we went whale watching...on a trip to see the geisers...the blue lagoon...gulfoss waterfall (amazing)...la perla restaurant...thingvellir national park...all in 3 days and even had time for some shopping! The food is amazing (very fresh fish) but very expensive. Only downside to the whole holiday was I went with my first husband who was an absolute prat (being a bit polite there)....

Shianne, we hope to visit Japan once a year, though it may stretch as children get older and more expensive. We moved to the UK just over two years ago and have been back twice, so are on target! My husband's elder sister may be getting married (at last.....) in the spring which would make it three visits in just under three years. Otherwise I will take the kids again in summer. I do love Japan but it is more like home than a holiday in many respects. I lived there for ten years and we stay with family, visit friends, buy loads of food we can't get over here......no sightseeing at all this time, though partly due to the small children/excessive heat combination which didn't make for active outings. We did manage a few dips in the hot springs whilst staying at a relative's flat in the mountains though. The area is known for its sake...we sampled quite a few.....! If anyone plans on visiting Japan, I do recommend it and happy to advise on travel, hotels, whatever.
