I have bought some silver solid chocolate heart dragees, they are quite large over 1cm and heavy, i wondered what would be the best way to attach them to the sides of a cake, if sugar glue or my gum glue would be strong enough, i would hate them to fall off....... although they are just for us......

I'd use fairly stuff royal icing piped on to the back of the dragee and then hold it in place on the cake for a few seconds. Royal icing sticks just about anything. I use the instant tate and lyle stuff.

thanks rach......... hoping to do them this afternoon, but have long distance relatives coming again...... i have iced the cake this morning and paniced the icing would not be big enough, i needed 13inch circle, anyway i ended up making it huge and got loads of folds, it is terrible, looks a mess and to top it off it has cracks in the icing everywhere............ covered in them and all these folds where i cut too big, suppose i rushed it too much really........... wanted to get that bit done before the inlaws come for the day......... just letting it dry now but really it is spolit.. oh well you learnt from your mistakes, hope i can cover some of it with decor.

If you're trying to stick the hearts on with normal icing sugar mix it with some egg white or it might not be strong enough - I don't know the amounts - use one eggs white and keep beating in icing sugar until it goes stiff, use an elecrtic whisk or your hand might drop off - good luck
