Decided it might be easier to create a new thread for this year's show. Do you notice they've gone 'international' by the way, by creating a separate class for overseas sugarcrafters who until now have entered along with everyone else.
Anyway, about Cake 2007, NEC 10 & 11th November - anybody going this year? I plan to go, but not sure which day yet. I went on Sunday last year but several things had sold out by then so might try the Saturday this year, subject to finding babysitters (probably my parents....again....). Anyone entering the competitions this year? Emma? Would love to see another cake from you, that shimmering, rich-coloured tower was a real eye-catcher. Diane

On a slightly different topic, just found out that the first Japan Sugarart Competition (arranged by someone who has been to the UK Cake Show by the looks of the schedules and activities) will take place in Tokyo this weekend. Planning to get there for a look, from what I have seen in UK magazines/shows there is some really beautiful Royal icing work done by Japanese ladies. Will try to post any really stunning photos later.

Going on the Sunday with a dozen or so ladies from evening class. We are apparently doing a display table from our evening class, for the first time, and each have to produce something for it. Aarrggh!

Er,...........anyone going? I am definitely going on the Sunday and have been up late finishing a cake for our college table (South Nottingham College). There are only 3 of us second year students who have got as far as cakes (well it's only an evening class and started in mid-September, not much time to prepare pieces) the first years did plaques, but the sugar flower class has some wonderful exhibits. If you're at the NEC on Sunday please drop by our table and say hello.
