I want to get some round and petal shaped cake dummies to make some show cakes with but I'm finding them hard to get cheaply - they seem horribly expensive - does anyone know of anywhere that sells and posts them reasonably?

Design a Cake (try their website) were the cheapest I could find a few weeks ago, but others might know differently? Remember if there for sugarpaste covering to get the ones with the champhered edge to stop it cracking. The sharp edge ones are for royal icing.

I tried designacake but I thought they were pricey too - maybe I'm being mean. It just seems that £3 is a bit much to pay for a lump of polystyrene. I will ask Alison as well - you never know.
My next question is that I've bought a bead maker but I'm not happy with the results. I make a line of beads, but they're ridged with the lines from the plastic mould and don't look like beads really, I'd rather hand roll them than use these. Does anyone else use a bead maker?

Hi
I have a leaflet in my folder on instructions on how to get the best results from your bead maker - if you want to send me your address I shall pop one in the post for you tomorrow morning.
Dummies are not something I usually sell but I would say £3.00 is a good price - I'm just looking to see what I can do them for.

I don't recommend them so far Rach - and I've tried three different types of icing (pastillage, mexican modelling and fondant mixed with gum tracganth) I'll let you know if anything changes my mind!

I've found a company that do cheap cake dummies - I bought with them through ebay and they've sent me a price list. Their ebay ID is poly1314 and their web-site is: www.csmanufacturing.co.ukA rough idea of their prices: round cake dummies 6" - £1.16 12" - £1.69 petal dummies 6" £1.52 12" - 2.30 They do all shapes and sizes 6", 8", 10" and 12" They charge £2.50 for up to 6 items posted 2nd class and £5.00 for 6-12 items I hope this is useful to someone, I know I'll be using them now. The dummies are each sealed in packaging and arrived very quickly.
