Hi everyone! I want to know how to go about painting white gumpaste roses. this is for a wedding cake, and the bride wants the flowers to start a dark cocoa at the base and fade in color to the tips of the rose petal. I warned her that I had never done this before, since I'm still a novice at cake decorating, and I've never done anything so dramatic...ever ! I need help with suggestions from all you experienced decorating artists! Help !

I would do it by forming each petal and then using a dark brown petal dust to brush them - with the brush heavily loaded start at the base and flisk the brush up towards the tip of the petal and then assemble the rose as normal.

Sounds like the best idea to me aswell..also once the roses are dry dust the edges in a blossom tint colour one of your choice just to bring out the edge of each petal..worth doing them put the roses through the steam of a boiling kettle this seals in the colour and gives it a lovely sheen

Rach, do you vaporise them after the dusting or before?
