Okay need some advice please...
My beautiful daughter.......has asked me for a 4 teir stacked princess castle cake in pink of course.....
Now I have done the crystal wedding cake with a 8, 6, 4 inch cakes and I thought I would do the same but add a 10 inch one to the bottom then build around with turrets etc....... My concern is the weight it wasnt a prob with the three smaller ones didnt need to dowel and that cake made it all the way from worthing to london so I know that okay and that was with a chocolate sponge inside....
I am wondering if the weight of the top three on the bottom tier will be to much........do you think I would need to dowel the bottom tier...
Any help would be great........thanks
Rach xx

I have just has a thought instes of doing a 10inch one one the bottom I could just add a 2inch one on the top..then wouldnt have to dowel it...prob solved..dont really want to dowel unless I have to...
so I will do an 8, 6, 4, 2 inch stacked cake with turrets...next she will probably ask me for a fire breathing dragon..might have to put a stop on that bit..,........
When I eventually do it I will post a piccy so you can see..this will be my first attempt at this so dont hold your breath..but it will be good practise to try out a differnet style of castle cake...

Hi Rach,
I've never done anything more than a single tier so I'm afraid i'm not much help. But sounds like it's going to be brilliant, hard work but worth it when your little girl sees it!

Just a thought - if it's the height you need, but not really the quantity of actual cake for eating, why not use a dummy for the top tier which would reduce the weight? As long as the recipient is aware and agrees obviously.
