The basket is royal icing. The leaves are gumpaste. The rest is buttercream. The cake is Chocolate. The photo was taken before I finished placing all the leaves around the cakeboard.

That is brillant...love to know how you did the basket and the fruit is amazing..very very impressed..was the basket hard to do..that would fill me with horror if I was asked to do that..wouldnt know where to start..

Gorgeous, and looks incredibly hard to do, looks too good to eat too. you should be very proud looks fantastic. i couls never attempt to make a basket like that....... very impressive.

Thanks forall the nice comments. To make the basket I took pieces of styrofoam and put them together with dowels. Then I carved it to the basket shape. I then marked with a black marker where the lines would be in the basket. I took the foam apart, covered the parts with clear food service film and piped on the royal icing. When each section dried and hardened I took out the foam and plastic and then glued the sections together with more royal icing. Lots easier than it sounds or looks. -Ken
