I have three orders coming up, all wanting chocolate cakes. I've yet to find a really good moist choclatey recipe for chocolate cake - if anyone has one they'd be willing to share I'd be really grateful!

Emma
I would normally just do as Rach and sub flour with cocoa powder, but I did a really rich one for my daughter's cake and it was just so gorgeous and rich if that's what's wanted. Carol Deacon and Lindy Smith recipes are very similar. Here goes:
for 6" square/7"round Butter 115g, caster sugar 75g, eggs 3, plain choc 170g, SR flour 115g, icing sugar 30g, baking time 45-10mins @ Gas 4.
Preheat oven to Gas 4, grease and line tin and separate eggs Melt chocolate in microwave or over hot water Cream butter and caster sugar together Beat in egg yoks, then add melted chocolate Mixer on slow speed and add flour Whisk egg whites into stiff peaks and whisk in icing sugar Slowly mix the chocolate mixture into the egg whites Pour the mixture into baking tin and bake. Test with skewer or knife and if clean, turn out and cool on wire tray (and try not to pinch bits off to taste-test or there'll be nothing left)
Good luck and have fun

I'm going to have a go at your recipe and will let you know how I get on, thank you so mcuh for posting it!
I found one for chocolate and courgette cake which I'll do on Monday - sounds interesting, from the Green and Blacks chocolate recipes book.
I have a lovely beetroot recipe which you make with fresh beetroot and the cake turns out bright red. It's very like carrot cake.

Emma
Deliberate mistake in recipe - bake for 45-60mins (not 10!) Must have a go at the beetroot cake - should be a hit with the relatives as they're originally Lithuanian and always going on about beetroot soup! Recipe please.
