Does anyone have any orinigal ideas for a fishing cake? It's for an 18 year old who goes sea fishing. I was thinking of either having a little guy fishing off a boat or having a fish on a cutting board with fishing tackle around the board. The only thing with the cutting board one is that you wouldn't really have fishing tackle on the kitchen table with a fish you're about to gut and clean.

I made one of a fish jumping out of a pond with a lily pad etc. You can see it on my web-site. You could do something similar with sea themed stuff around. Colette Peters has a great fish cake on her web-site :www.colettescakes.com I think you have to do under special or something - it's tiered and gorgeous.

Um you could go completely the other was and do a big fish on a display board..you know when you catch a big fish etc they get mounted on a board to hang on the wall.....does that make sense...
Or another way he is deep sea fishing but pulls out a great white shark instead you could have a tiny boat with him in and a fishing line thena huge big shark with an open mouth coming out from the sea.....
Bet u wished you hadnt asked now..lol... I am saying this then thinking ..wow..not sure about all the work with it...

Thanks Emma and Rach. I saw Colette Peters one last night and it is really nice. I'll only be needing a one tier cake although I have thought of using a dummy. Her cakes are amazing. Emma, you might have one of her books where she has a tea pot coming out the top of the cake as if pouring. Do you know how she does it? Rach, I know exactly what you mean about the display board. I'd also thought of something similar. I'd once done a cross stitch for my dad and it had one of those on along with a fishing bag and reel etc. I like your idea about pulling out the shark instead of a fish Rach. I want to get started on it today so I'd better think fast!

I've started on the boat for the fishing cake as I'd also like to get it done way before hand.
I recieved a plastic scraper thing (for scraping the last bits of mayonnaise out the bottle) from hellmans mayonnaise and it's so flat and thin that it's perfect for transferring the figure onto the cake. The lips were a bit of a pain because they were so small. I actually loved doing the eyes and didn't find them too hard. I used a 00 paintbrush to paint the eyelashes etc. Can't wait to see yours! Which Brat are you doing?

I was given a Bratz colouring/activity book to copy mine from. The wallpaper in the background was where I got the idea for the colour of my cake. Might be the same book!
