Have a look at my web-site on the 'prices and ordring' section as I have a table of cake sizes and the amount of pieces you get out of each size. It's rough as it depends how big each slice is cut - the 'coffee' sized slice is a small finger food bit and the 'tea' sized slice is a hearty chunk. If you're doing a fruit cake then the 'coffee' sized bit is more relevant. If it' a sponge then the 'tea' sized slice. www.emmascakes.co.uk/ordering.html

I try to use a quick maths square root calculation of (get the calculators out)
Fruit cake 'tea' size for 80 use a 9x9" min square cake and increase it for a round cake to a 10" min. For sponge 'coffee' size, then you would need to double the size of cake, or make two cakes. This way you could make both a fruit and a sponge to please everyone.
