Chrissie
If you can get some Gum Tragacanth or Tylo powder then mix 1 teaspoon (5ml) to 250g of sugarpaste and work it well in, keep well wrapped in plastic bag. Otherwise, mix your sugarpaste 50:50 with flowerpaste. If you can't get these, then try using a cornflour dusting when rolling out and it will make it less sticky, but you will need to leave it a while to dry out.

just use the gum trag straight into the paste and knead.........red sugarpaste is always softer..i think maybe due to the amount of colour in it.....

Thanks i have tried it but it is very soft still, sealed it in a bag for 24 hours in a box, i have manage to use it though it has made a difference, but it looks very pinky, not deep red, another lesson learnt anyway. i think next time i will use the red flower paste already made up.

It shoulsnt habe been that soft...I used red sugarpaste the normal stuff for my peppa car and that was fine......another option is sugar dough that comes in red..and i will probably use that cos I have got some red hears to do at some point so I think I will use it up...

Rach
I haven't used sugar dough at all before - is it easier/harder/cheaper or just different to sugarpaste - in other words - is there any advantage in using it over sugarpaste/flowerpaste?

I am using at the mo for modelling..it holds its shape and comes in lots of colours...nice to use agaib knead it first but it is nice to work with....its not as stretchy as flowerpaste or modelling paste as it doesnt have the gums..but it is firmer......
It comes in 200g packets and they are £3.75 a packet .......I still do use sugarpaste to model aswell but when comparing them both ..sugar dough does hold better and sets harder but is still soft enough to eat.. I am making penguins with it at the mo..will post up a pic when finished so you can see......
