I have been asked by someone to make a cake with their company logo on it, it's a quad biking company in Exeter. I'm not keen but I've decided to do it for the cash, shameful I know.
So how do I do it? I've seen some gorgeous cakes on here with pictures of cartoon characters on the top, any tips?
I thought I'd print the image off the size of the cake and place it on top the the freshly iced cake and trace over the lines with a dead biro to get an imprint of the picture on the icing and then fill it in with piped royal icing outlines and flooding the middles.
Any suggestions, improvements on this please?!

do you want to make it a flat or 3d....is the comapny image a difficult one to do.....another option would be to model the quad bike and then maybe do an edible image of the actual logo or do your own cut out of paste with it and put it with the quad bike..
not sure if that would fit cos I havent seen the logo but that could be more fun

They want it 2D on a circular shape, the logo is pretty complicated. I know it's lazy but I can't be bothered with doing a model of a quad bike etc. as it's never going to appear on my web-site or be anything other than a cash bonus for the holidays. She wants it 2D and that's what she's getting. How do you do a paste cut out? I've never done one!

like a jigsaw puzzle cut out the pieces and place togther on the cake........do a transfer then scribe it onto the paste to get the shape and lift on and off you go..
If its really complicated might be better to do an edible image thats wot I did for the school for their opening was much easier only cost about £7..save you alot of hassle.

Thanks Rach, I'll have a go at the cut out thing and then do an edible image if it's hopeless - where do you get them done?

Just picked up on this. I now have the PC and icing sheets to do this. If you haven't already contacted Rach's lady, send me an email of the logo at dmpcallans@btinternet.com and I'll try it out.

Brenda
Yes, I've used them for smaller cakes and decorations, but not for full-size cake tops yet as pretty expensive just to play around with. If you have any orders coming up please let me have the details and I'll have a shot for you - cost of materials plus P&P only as a trial one if that's OK with you, probably around £4/5 max - again, never posted one so would have to look at sturdy packaging. Let me know.

If it helps all the ones I have had have come in a grip seal bag and then inside a carboard backed envelope...So postage wouldnt be back at all its not as if one sheet will weigh too much..lol.. and then on the front of the env put do not bend.......
