Hi
I grew up with all the pomp and ceremony of a British Xmas.
Now I live in Poland I want to bring the ceremony and style with me.
BUT
I hate fruit cake.
So I was thinking of using a sponge cake base.
Maybe chocolate, Madeira, jam sponge etc
Then cover with marzipan and icing.
Which flavours there would go best together?
I am leaning towards the Madeira sponge. But won't it be too dry?
The jam sponge would be moister ... but would it last as long?
And would the choc sponge go well with the marzipan?
