Hi, I'm getting really tired of making cakes at the moment. I've made so many recently that I don't have time for anything else. Maybe wouldn't be so bad if my daughter actually slept through the night but her constant waking makes us so tired and more stressed. The noddy one i'm working on at the moment looks more like a freak than a friendly character. The lady was meant to pick it up today but has just rung and said make it tomorrow so luckily I'll be able to redo him. Ho hum! Anyway, rant over! Got to get to the cake decorating shop.

I'm afraid it's happening again! I'm getting sick of cakes!!! I've got so many to do and it's so hard trying to fit everything in. I can't do a lot during the day because I look after my daughter so it's all got to be done on the weekends and in the evenings. I've just finished a wedding cake and have to get a Lazy town cake done by the time the lady picks it up this evening. Then i have another 8 more cakes this month, 2 of them wedding cakes. I hate to sound like I'm complaining because it is a good money earner and I'm getting loads of orders. Give me a week and I guess I'll be wanting more! I also think it's because I'm so tired. My daughter wakes up so much during the night because of her eczema and it's hard trying to function on such interupted sleep.
Ok, rant over! Let me get back to my cake. At least the weather's been miserable so I don't feel too bad about being stuck indoors.
:-) ho hum!

Thanks Rach. I'm relieved it's the end of the day and 2 at least are out the way. Now I can actually sit down and watch ER instead of being in the kitchen! :-)

I will do.
So is the ebay shop going well? I always wonder how much you actually end up making after they charge for the shop and listings fees. Do you get more business from your ebay shop or your normal website? Well done though, it's obviously succeeding!
I must say, I would much rather be doing something like that than making cakes.

lol...I dont have an ebay shop anymore just my website and its doing well...cos I can check orders and nip up to the po when i need to so not much work and still do cakes painting fundraising for school etc...seem to get rushes on one thing then that stops then another one starts so abit of variety..I dont tend to take on too many cakes cos I do get bored with them aswell ..I like to do one or two a week sometimes I may do more and sometimes none at all...which at the mo suits me fine..lol

That's really great! How do you advertise your site, or is it just through people searching through Google? At least we're like each other with the cakes. I just need to find another money maker to concentrate on before I stop making them altogether.
Do you mind me asking if your supplier for face paints etc. is Uk based or not? The only reason I'm wondering is because I'm always looking for goods overseas to sell over here to maximise profits. If you did, then I'd know I could ask you for advice. Don't worry, I don't want to sell what you're selling, I'm looking for something to do so I don't have to make the cakes anymore.

but you are soo good at cakes it would be a shame..why dont you limit yourself to one a week or one every two weeks..or just take on wot u want to do..it would be a shame to stop all together ..you have a talent for it.
With the face painting I get my supplies from the uk distributor but they are all imported from belgium..so she sends them on to me and i retail them

aw, thanks Rach! I was thinking about only doing one a week and I might still do that. Every time I get loads of orders back to back I say I'm never doing that again, but forget about it and do the same thing the next time around. At the moment I can't stop doing it because we need the money but I definitely want to find something else (like you) to do in conjunction with the cakes. There are some special cages for guinea pigs we were looking at as one option. You don't get them here and there are loads in the US. The problem is having the money to buy the first lot and then what happens if they don't sell well. You're then stuck with them and are out of pocket. In one way, that would be a good thing - to put any money I make on cakes towards finding something to sell from a website.
