Hi-I'm getting married next year and am trying to find some ideas for a really stunning wedding cake, but am not having much luck-and have got fed up of trying to find something in a magazine Its going to be a civil ceremony, with a chocolate and gold colour scheme, and ideally I would like the cake to be: *either carrot cake or chocolate (as not really into fruit cake) *3-4 tiers *not white *when the guests walk into the room I want the cake to have that "wow" factor The wedding will be in North Wales, so obviously distance is a factor as I would prefer to collect the cake rather than risk using a courier. Could anybody give me any suggestions or even better pics to give me an idea of what can be done please??

have a look at carolynmackenzie.co.uk and go to her wedding gallery page 2 - there is a lovely chocolate cake on there - it is covered in white chocolate but could easily be done in milk or dark...or even painted with a gold lustre. You can have almost any colour of cake and more or less any flavour....have a look at emmas cakes on this website - hers are all really rich colours and very decorative - certainly have the wow factor. There are loads of websites you can look at, you will just have to trawl through them, pick out the pictures of the ones you like and take them to a local recommended cake decorator...

and depending on when next year you are getting married, you better look quickly as some cake decorators like several months notice...and have you thought of having different types of cake for each tier...you could have fruit, chocolate and carrot cake...

You could go for chocolate stacked cake covered in roses and have the roses in chocolate and gold and maybe have fans of chocolate aswell..
Cakes are very individual..its difficult to suggest as there are soo many designs..but basically most things can be done....do you want modern ..traditional style etc etc
hope that helps abit

Take a look at the Dragons and Daffodils site - I realise South Wales is not actually near North Wales but they have a fantastic selection of chocolate wedding cakes with lots of wow to inspire you, and according to their website they may be able to deliver themselves if you can't get someone to collect it. So many beautiful and funky cakes around - try putting 'chocolate wedding cake' into the search engine - I just wish I had known about all these cake fashions when we got married.
