Here's something I didn't know until the other week...when smoothing sugarpaste on a cake I've always used my hands or smoothing tools...well try this...break off a pebble sized piece of spare sugarpaste in the same colour used to cover the cake and rub it over the surface...it gives a lovely sheen and as it is soft, it moulds to the shape of the cake and doesn't leave any lines or square edges...gives a lovely smooth finish too...
if you already know this just ignore me, but it's another revelation to me!!!!

i knew about it but it has never worked that well for me..but now you have said I will try again...got a big wedding cake in aug a lindy smith wedding cake...arghh oh well it will be interesting..lol

can't wait to see it! i really need to get some wedding cakes done, there's not much money in the novelty birthday cake market...or maybe I'm just a bit of a soft touch when it comes to pricing!

I know wot u mean..I am the same ....I have to do the golden wedding cake outta lindys book..its on the website too...by the cake separator......I am doing a crystal topper though rather than the sugar hearts..just hope I can pull it off..as the lady has seen the piccie..but I am no lindy smith...lol
