Great modelling. Especially all the jungle creatures - so realistic they give me the creeps! I have only tried marzipan once - found it quite difficult although it didn't crack like sugarpaste which was good. Only had liquid colouring to hand though so took ages to mix up colours and got a litte sticky, which didn't help. You can make your own modelling paste quite easily - add a teaspoon or so of gum tragacanth or CMC powder to ordinary sugarpaste and knead in well. Easy and much cheaper than buying modelling paste.

i think they are great...i usually like doing my christmas cake, but this year i have to do it at college, so it will be beautifully(??) piped with royal icing shells, c scrolls, s scrolls and ropes...oh and just to top it off we have to put garrett frills on them too! Might give it to my gran and i'll do one a bit more modern!

They are lovely. Your modelling is really good, your style is well-suited to these cute novelty cakes. I particularly like the Christmas tree scene mini-cake, but the penguins are my son's favourite.

I started making it for a cake competion at our school fair, but im having second thoughts now as my friend showed me the fruit cake she had made and decorated with just nuts , it looked really lovely but think mine might look a bit o t t, so I might just donate it to the raffle or keep it for us!!
