If I can get the pictures to upload......just about all the cakes I have ever made (except one which was far too long ago to have digipics of...that one is a story of its own, made it in Poland under communist rule....had to make EVERYTHING from scratch.) Anyway, will try to load them so that the recent ones are near the top.

Sorry, wrong order, the top post has the first ones I made and the second post the next lot. These following are then going from old to new so that if (when!) I do more they can be added as is. Serves me right for trying to be clever and get them in order! This one is on a dummy and was made May 2006 despite the date on it. Mum & Dad's Ruby wedding Oct 2006 Loong gap between cakes due to having a second baby in August 2006....birthday cake Mar 2007 for lady born on St Patrick's Day 5th birthday cake for friend First attempt at chocolate covering - very sticky and bumpy - for sister's birthday Apr 2007 You'll laugh, but this disater was caused by Emma's marvellous exhibition cake at Cake 2006....my father saw it and said "now that's what I call a cake!" Havng retained only a dim impression of something brightly coloured with a a lot of gold swirls and a ball on top, I cobbled together the weird cake below. Now I've seen a pic of Emma's cake again it shows how diifferent it is! Oh well, it tasted OK.

First (and only) try at copying something from a book - Sarah Gleave's stencilling - for my aunt, May 2007. For neighbour again...lady who likes travel. Another fire engine..another friend's son's 5th. He had a real fire engine come to the party and let the kids climb on board, isn't that fantastic? Going back to cake, seems none of the supermarkets have fire engine cakes this year so may be asked to do more in future.

Nearly two years, but with big gaps and not many cakes made, due to having babies! Going to evening classes from next week to try and a) learn something and b) get some time to concentrate on cakes. Hubby is going to put the little ones to bed on his own on Mondays....he won't know what's hit him!

Birthday cake for my neighbour - made to please the mother more than the 3-year-old, quite a lot of detail in it - request was for a fairy princess castle. I also modelled a tiny fairy princess who sat on one front tower but she isn't in this photo. Took ages but was fun to do. First attempt at using pastillage (for the top tier towers, which were non-edible. Bottom tiers were sugarpaste/modelling paste mix round mini swiss rolls.)

that's a lovely castle...
can i ask what is pastillage and how does it differ from modelling paste or gellatine icing?

pastillage is a very hard sugar which firms to basically rock hard....so you can make freesstanding round towers etc etc..it does dry very qujickly..it starts to form a crust so you need to have everything out readya nd work quickly...it fab for princess towers..use it on mine all the time and then the hollow towers I fill with sweets

And yesterday's.......all done on Friday, usually start earlier but both children (and I) have had dreadful colds/coughs this week so had no time to do anything. Cakes were Sainsbury's Taste the Difference sponges, my Mum kindly trawled supermarkets for something suitable whilst I wiped little noses. It/they were for twins, as you can tell. My son's friends, as with the girl the fairy princess castle cake was for, so as he knows they are all three now he keeps saying 'when you are three......' and I have to tell him he won't be for a while yet! Flower centres are piped buttercream.
