Oh the dragon looks just how I always imagined a friendly dragon would, but rather complicated to do wasn't it? All those scales and whatever-the-bits-up-his-spine-are-called. Are the legs solid sugarpaste?

The legs are built like chicken legs. The meaty bits are made from the cake pieces cut from the dragons back to make it roundish. These are then covered with icing. The lower legs, feet, are made entirely from icing. To make the pointy bits up his back just make a long roll of sugarpaste about as thick as a finger, roll it flat to about 3 pennies thickness, cut one long edge straight. Then cut it into 2 inch long strips. Cut a zigzag pattern into the other edge. Add to dragon! The scales are quite easy. Use any small round edged tool to make overlapping half circles. Takes about 20 minutes per side and 3-4 minutes per leg!

Thank-you. I expect it would take me rather longer than you to do it but it does sound easier than first thought so might try it if any of my friends' children are into dragons (or even dinosaurs).
