that's nice...now I'm doing a wedding cake next week and they want silver hearts on it, so how did you colour your icing, do you just paint the silver on or do you colour it?

How about using the silver dragee hearts which are available? If cutting the hearts out, I'd dust the sugarpaste well with silver dust before cutting out, or have you considered gilding with silver leaf - looks really expensive (and it is edible). I was at a gilding demonstration recently so if you'd like any pointers, drop me PM.

i've bought some silver lustre dust and also some of the edible art silver disco glittery stuff, so i'm going to have a play around with it later, i thought i'd cover it with the lustre dust and then outline it with the glittery stuff...would that work?

i've tried the silver dust, both dusting it on, mixing it with alcohol (only had gin...) and painting it on and then also tried with the silver glitter on them, they look okay, but it's not what i'd choose for my own cake...why on earth could she not have pink!
