just use sugarpaste or fondant paste..for the frill if you find it difficult mix in some gum trag to strengthen it..or mix with abit of sugar florist paste if you have it ..or another option is to use mexicann modelling paste very good for that... for flowers use squires kitchen sugar florist paste..the best Alison sells them all

I adore mexican modelling paste for making upstanding swirls and figures that don't need any support - but it's not great for flowers as it's not quite as elastic as flower paste. I find flower paste horrible to work with as it never seems to dry hard which means that the flowers go bendy in humid weather - anyone managed to overcome this?

Hiya Emma
Have you tried the squires kitchen florist paste..its ready made and comes in all different colours..I love it and never had a problem with it. It always drys hard and they have never gone bendy....
Which paste have you tried...interested to know... Take care

I've been using squires paste too - I even wondered if there's some 'ooze' I have on my fingers that makes it bend. It holds its shape - but if you feel it it is't hard at all. A mystery.

Hi , and thank you alison yes a lot better now. i am afraid my modelling leaves much to be desired infact i have never tried it, but i cannot draw, paint etc, so thought i would leave it to the experts to have a go. i have 2 cakes to do for family birthdays, one my own, lol........ as noone else bakes so i am on the look out for new cutter ideas, i am finding the flowers hard to do even the rose, but the garrett frill is much improved with the flower paste from alsions shop, thankyou for all your help.
