Hi everyone - just back today after a glorious week in Tenerife. The choc fountain was delivered to my office just before I went off and I left it there so that my daughter didn't find it before her birthday on 6 April. I had a stream of people in to look at it and they're all desperate to find out how it works out. It's just ordinary good quality chocolate - Cadbury's, Green & Blacks etc., but I'll certainly let everyone know - perhaps with a photo - when we've used it.

Hi all you can now buy them on ebay. they have some nice stainless steel ones for about £21. also showing them on sky shopping but a lot dearer.£39.95 plus post and pack. My daughter is having our grandson christened in May and having the after party at home this time. I was thinking of buying one for that as all the grandchildren and adults will have great fun with it.

Hi. Used the chocolate fountain last night and attaching a photo of it in use. Unfortunately (or fortunately) didn't also take any photos of adults in their 40s (and in some cases 60s) making absolutely fools of themselves with it. Chocolate was everywhere - faces, hair, table, floor, and sometimes even on the food. They all wished their kids were there to enjoy it - and then decided it was too good for them - should be 'adults only'! To say the least it was a great success and ended in a competition of what can you NOT dip in chocolate? My husband had really gone on before the party about "wasting money/load of rubbish" etc. but he was in the scrum with the rest. I had supplied mini meringues, little cookies, marshmallows, peach slices and grapes to dip - but the most enjoyed were strawberries and Sainsbury's fudge sweets. I used Cadbury's dairy milk and barbecue skewers for lifting - and supply plenty paper plates/bowls and napkins to wipe up! Anyway, back to cake decorating today. Have a good weekend everyone. Marjorie

How much chocolate did you need to put in the fountain? Was is hell to clean afterwards? Looks like a great party centrepiece!

I used 800g chocolate - as it was Cadbury's you have to add vegetable oil to make it runny enough. The choc which the fountain people supply doesn't need oil added and I may try it next time. As for cleaning, I just left it until it had cooled down and scooped up what was left in the reservoir into a plastic bowl and can use it as a chocolate spread. The stuff stuck to the fountain tiers and auger (the bit in the middle which lifts the choc up) just washed off in a big basin of soapy water. Must admit I did get into a bit of a mess taking the machine apart and had quite a bit of licking to do!

Glad the weekend went ok. I am bidding on ebay for one, thought I would get it for my grandsons christening. Better tell ther guests to bring a bib with them.! Ha ha. some good ideas about what to dip in them. The thought of cleaning it off afterwards is the bit I am looking forward to.! my husband is moaning his head off as well about waste of money but I bet he will be at the front when it is in use.

I must look at the postage for the choc fountain as it is just going to lie in my loft. Seems a bit daft if we all went out and bought one when we could just pass one around? Apart from postage, it might help if we knew which area each other lived in to pass things like this on. What does anyone else think? Don't want to put Alison out of business, but there must be other occasions when we only need an item for one or two uses and others could make use of it afterwards.

Hi Marjorie, Glad you had a great time at your party and the fountain was a hit! Yes, I'm sure your husband is eating his words now That's a good idea about sharing items. Although the only person i know who's relatively close to me is Julie and she's about an hour or so away. Shianne
