I've noticed a few of you have used edible images in the past, I've recently had a request for a cake with a photo image on it and just wondered where is the best place to get these done, is it better on an icing sheet or on rice paper and are they easy to handle or do they break quite easily?

thanks, just had a look at that but they only seem to sell their own images, i need to send off a photo to get it printed...there is a company who advertises on here who seem reasonably priced, i just wondered what it was like working with them really...ie am i likely to break it putting it on...i'm a bit heavy handed really!

also when using I do find them hard to get off but now I have found the better way for me and its not using the freezer method...it usung the oven method...put a naking sheet in the oven and heat up and then take out put a cloth over it and then put the image ontop and it drys it so it will then lift off the backing paper..I find doing the freezer way never works for me I just get frostbite..but NIkki uses it all the time..
ALso I use icing images for big tops and for muffing cakes etc I use the rice ones

If you're near an ASDA supermarket, their edible images are on the thickest, best quality icing sheet I've seen. Several of the big supermarkets do it if you ask at the bakery section - usually about 2-3 pounds I think. They are very careful about copyright issues so depends what you want printing.
