Hi, I'm very excited, just got my first official cake order from a poster i'd put up around town! It's for a rugby ball cake and i'd like to do one similar to this ... How do you suggest i do the writing and logos? Thanks, Shianne

do they want it with all the logos on it.........you do do them separately by using a mould and stick on so they would be raised up or you could pipe on..or paint on once the outline has been done say in an edible black marker..you could you Ann Baber folk paint in black..then it would look flat like the picture.. Or else you could change the logo bit and put the person name on it....
Jope that helps..let me know..how much are you going to charge for it..

thanks rach, i'll have a look at the paint. I've already said i'd charge 28 pounds. I was just going to do a plain brown one but my husband saw the welsh rugby union one and so i've gone with that one. It'll be fun to do so i'm looking forward to it. How much would you have charged? I think if i'd decided on that one initially, I might have made it 30 pounds at least.

I think they have got an excellent deal for £28.00 must admit I would have charged £35 to £40 depending on how much detail they wanted on it..But as its the first prob between £30-35 not not far off.. I charge £30.00 for my half football cake and that has the board covered in whatever style they like ie grass or football strips and name etc if they want it will prob put that up to £35 soon though...
What filling are you going to do is it a sponge how r u going to do the sponge..r u going to cut and shape it..dont forget your peppa pig cake....
I have got a cake for this week very basic one and my daughters 4 tier one the week after and then the peppa pig already been asked for another pig one a mermaid undercasle, bowling pin and possibly a rude one..so orders coming in. Strange I seem to get most of them standing at the school gates........

I do have a dalmation dog tin you could borrow..if you covered the postage but prob by the time you have done that you could have hired or even bought one....you can get dome very good ones off ebay..
With a round tim you could cut a basic round face and shape the sides slightly to curve it and then build up the rest of the face with rounds of sugarpaste...like ears and cheedks and a red tongue..
Does that make sense....hope it does

or again like dizzy said use a pudin bowl and do the body the a small round for the face then put spots over the dog and then do flappy ears on the join between the head and body and then big eyes built up with thin rounds of paste then big floppy tongue out at the front...

i wanted to do a cake for my grandad something to do withe his garden, she replied saying she had just done one for a book coming out and then described it for me, the book wasnt published for months afterwards, i think it was the complete cakle decorater and the cakje had a gentleman sat on top of the cake with varoius flowers around him.
