I bought some merriwhite to mix with icing sugar to make royal icing - but the stupid stuff doesn't come with instructions, it just says 'use as per recipe given.' So I don't know how much of it is equivalent to one egg white. Does anyone else use this who knows? Help!

The recipe I've got says to whisk 1 TBS merri white and 5 - 6 TBS water together. Gradually add 500g / 1lb of sieved icing sugar a TBS at a time.

i have used it ages ago when I bought it it came in sachets so I just used to throw in 1 to 500 g of icing sugar..... But now I always buy the icing mix so much easier....i know the squires one is expensive but the tate and lyle is ok at £1.99 for a packet... Also with just meri white add your glyerine so you can cut the cake cos it goes really really tooth breaking hard otherwise...lol..
Well it did when I used it but that was a very very long time ago now....prob all changed now....
In fact I just might delete this post looking back cos all the info is old and probably wrong now...lol....
I will go and crawl back into my corner..lol...

Thanks guys - so one tbsp of merriwhite to 1lb of sugar - seems fine to me. I'm not using it to coat a cake, don't worry Rach! I'm using it for decoration and glueing so having it dry very hard is a big bonus for me!
